Rest In A Demon’s Embrace

Chapter 155 - Preparing For The Auction

Jiang Yao was aware that the manager had chosen to escape. Actually, he had not intended to blame neither him nor the restaurant, but since he had escaped, he was not going to try and stop him and explain his thoughts.

Luo Xiao was unaware of the fleeing manager, but when they left the room, he found that the servers seemed somewhat confused and stressed.

Although things were chaotic, they still managed to show the respectful attitude that one would expect from such a restaurant, and Luo Xiao quickly put the incident behind him.

Luo Xiao was aware that the Eldest Miss of the Cao family was likely to cause him some problems later on, but he did not regret his decision. As soon as he had decided to stand by Jiang Yao\'s side, and face any danger together, he knew that he could not stay protected beneath the wings of his lover.

This Cao Lanying was rather simpleminded, and she seemed to be the ideal sharpening stone for him to gain some experience. He had some faith that the woman\'s brother was not likely to allow her to use the Cao family\'s power to harm him.

Luo Xiao had his own plans, and Jiang Yao was perfectly aware of his thoughts. He was not willing to risk the life of his beloved, but he also understood that the young man had to grow up.

As such, he decided to keep the shadow guards around to protect him, but instructed them that they could only interfere if his life was at risk. Even if he suffered a few injuries, they would have to stay back, and they were only allowed to make a move if all other options were exhausted.

Luo Xiao was not to be informed of the protection. He had previously been followed by guards, but after Jiang Yao began traveling with him, these guards had gone on to complete other tasks, so he did not expect that he would get others designated to protect him after returning.

Jiang Yao and Luo Xiao spent the next couple of days dealing with the preparations for their auction. The auction house was highly excited to see the many treasures they could provide, and they were more than willing to host this event.

Although Jiang Yao had many requirements, amongst which was anonymity, the auction house was willing to meet these demands as the income they could earn from this one auction was likely to surpass the entire yearly income of their main branch within Cloudsoar City.

Luo Xiao and Jiang Yao had both picked various treasures they had no use for to put up for auction. While one always needed resources, there were certain things that they had no reason to keep, and it would make much more sense to exchange them for spirit crystals or things that could assist them here and now.

The following days went by in a blur. The news about the auction was spreading throughout the entire city and slowly spread to the neighboring countries as well.

The auction house had determined that they would not host the auction right away, but to give guests from nearby kingdoms the chance to arrive so that the prices could be raised with more competition.

Many of these resources that were put up for auction were extinct, and the noble families wished to get their hands on them with the purpose of looking for a method to reintroduce them into the current world.

If they could purchase a herb that had long since vanished from the surface of their world, but got a seed, or found another way to keep it growing, then they could become the only family to create this specific herb, and it could become a great source of income for them in the future.

Many had different thoughts when they heard of the things that had been added to the auction, and they all felt curious about the background of the seller.

The auction house had from the very beginning made clear that this was a private auction. Every item came from the same seller, so the identity of someone who was capable of producing these things was heavily sought out, but no one seemed to find any hints as to who it might be.

Even the Demon Emperor was curious about this unknown expert. He was aware of the upper realms, and feared that the seller had come down from above, which could cause him certain danger, so he personally visited the auction house to investigate.

However, he soon found the identity of the seller and let go of his fears. While he was not certain of how his son had managed to find these resources, he did not care much.

The treasures were indeed worth an incredible amount of wealth, but to him, it was merely a drop in a bucket.

Although he was only the Emperor of the Demon Empire, the truth was that the whole continent of Tiandi was under his control. The weaker empires and kingdoms all had to pay a certain tribute to him yearly, so wealth was the last of his worries.

Any resource he wished to possess would be given to him by someone who wanted to curry favor, so these treasures were valuable, but not worth it for him to trouble himself.

In fact, he felt somewhat proud that his son was able to produce these riches. He had always believed that one had to depend on oneself to gain strength.

He had many wives throughout the years, and his children all had different mothers. He had taken care of them until they had turned fifteen years old, after which he had granted them some land, and the rest depended on their own ability.

Some would flourish like Jiang Yao, while others would succumb, and fail to become outstanding. This was life, and he felt no need to step in to interfere.
